87 f250 accululator dessicant? for 134a conversion

bio-me on Thu July 17, 2008 11:34 AM User is offline

Year: 87
Make: ford
Model: f250
Engine Size: 6.9
Refrigerant Type: 134 conversion

I replaced the accumulator as part of conversion. I just read a post about the r12 dessicant not working with 134a. When I went to Napa I just asked for an 87 accumulator. How do I know what dessicant is in it?

If it says x7 or x9 desiccant you're fine. If it says x5 is an R12 accumulator. Most accumulators and driers these days are compatible with both. You would need to have an accumulator actually built pre 94 for it to be an R12 only model.
