Stinky AC

joeynenj on Fri July 11, 2008 9:05 PM User is offline

Year: 2001
Make: subaru
Model: outback
Engine Size: 2.5
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 80
Pressure Low: 30
Pressure High: 210
Country of Origin: United States

When i turn the AC for the first time everyday or every other day, it stinks like mildew, i have opened the evap housing, changed the cabin filter, vacuumed everything out and checked the drain hose, everything looks clean and drains right except for the initial moldy smell. Ive tried industrial cleaning agents and literally scrubbed the evap clean and it works for awile then the smell comes back. I tried spraying Lysol into the fresh air intake with the fan on high, that works great for about 2 days only. I've read about BG frigifresh and frigiclean, any advise on these or other products? Thanks

you can try DWD2 which is great and always try to turn the ac off, fan on for about a minute or so before arriving at your destination. This will dry the moisture and help odors from returning..Hope this helps.

DWD2 is the first two items listed. I prefer this product over the others as it seems to work the best.
