cubswin on Sun June 29, 2008 5:43 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 2006
Make: International
Model: 8600
Engine Size: 370
Refrigerant Type: 134
Ambient Temp: 85
Pressure Low: 45
Country of Origin: United States

C heck A/C light is on and compressor wont engage. I dont know were the relay is if it has one and no power to compressor clutch. Any one know what pressure switch or sensor needs to be checked to get a/c working again? Or where I can find the A/C electrical schematics for this type of tractor it has a cummins engine.

low side 45 with the compressor off?? If so, you are empty if the ambient is 85 degrees, find and fix leak, if the 45psi is with the compressor running, get both high and low side pressures. To reset the check ac light, a battery disconnect "may" work..Not sure on those...Hope this helps..

Thank you. Ill follow thru and reset the check a/c light and go from there. The static low side pressure was around 80.

80 psi is enough to start the compressor, even for a short time, so you do need to reset the computer.. Not sure of what system is used in that truck, but may have a two wire pressure switch. On the low side. If it does, make sure 12v is getting to it, if it is, then make sure it's leaving it. You can try jumping the switch to get the compressor to run (if 12v going in and not out) to get both high and low pressures..Let us know what you find..
