Switching to 134

Year: 1970
Make: Oldsmobile
Model: 442
Engine Size: 455
Country of Origin: United States

I have a 70 442 and I want to get the A/C working. Currently it is disconnected. I want to switch to 134. I have flushed out the system. What do I need to change and do to get it to where I can just bring it to a shop and just have it charged? I don't have any a/c tools. Can I adjust the POA without gauges? When I look into the POA all I see is a nut. Do I need to change out any other parts? Thanks

You really need gauges to set the POA. It is unlikely the average shop will be willing to do this for you - most of them barely recall the POA at all.

Here is the POA recalibration page. Once you get the valve set, you will need a new receiver / dryer that is compatible with 134a.

You should make sure that your fan clutch is working properly, and that no air bypasses the condensor on it's way to the fan.
