Help with pressure readings

Fatass03 on Tue June 24, 2008 8:27 PM User is offline

Year: 1998
Make: Chevy
Model: s10
Engine Size: 4.3
Refrigerant Type: 134A
Pressure Low: 38
Pressure High: 220
Country of Origin: United States

I just replaced my compressor and added 1lb 12oz of 134a and 8 oz of oil after I had pulled a vacuum for 1 hour. The next day (yesterday) I noticed some of the refrigerant had leaked out (the compressor wouldn't stay on). So, I added another 18 oz back to the system after I checked all the fittings for leaks. I added enough so that the compressor would stay running while at a high idle. Today I checked the pressure and at idle and Low was 38 High was 220. With a high idle Low was 34 and High was 240. Ambient temp was 90 Degrees. I just want some opinions on the numbers to make sure I didn't add too much freon. Oh and the compressor feels hot to the touch.
Thanks for the help!
Robert
