Changing compressor on 97 Odyssey

Year: 1997
Make: Honda
Model: Odyssey
Engine Size: 2.2
Refrigerant Type: R-134
Country of Origin: United States

Hi all. I'm back after a long sabbatical. My parents' 97 Odyssey AC still works fine. The compressor has just started making some noise. I'm going to change it out with a new one and replace the accumulator.

I looked on Tim's site, and found the compressor and clutch, but no accumulator. Do ya got one Tim?

I've spent way more time and money working on a 91 Suburban AC, but this is my first foray into one that uses an expansion valve instead of CCOT. Any gotchas to look out for? I realize the accumulator on the Suburban is on the low side, and the Odyssey is probably on the high side, right? I have the factory service manuals, as well as the book I got from Tim with vehicle-specific AC information -- can't remember the name, but it's kinda blue and white.

How much oil of what type should I put in if I discover I don't need to flush, just swap compressor and accumulator. If I see any bits of strangeness in the tubing, then I'll flush.

This should be your drier.

Yup, that looks like the critter. 8 bucks? Autozone and Checker want $80

My dad got his panties in a wad and bought a compressor locally. There wasn't a drier available, so he's doing it without.

He bought a compressor for a 96 with a 6.5" pulley (the same diameter as listed for a 97 on your site), since he couldn't find one for a 97 with a clutch and pulley. His pulley is only 5.5" diameter. I guess that's why we couldn't find a compressor for a 97 with a clutch and pulley on it.

Do you need to change the application listing on your site? As far as I know, the Odyssey had the original compressor on it. They've had the van about 6 years or so.
