How to remove clutch

medium1 on Thu June 05, 2008 8:33 PM User is offline

How in the world do you remove the clutch from a 2000 saturn s series compressor? There doesn't appear to be anything to connect a puller to.

Are there not 3 threaded holes in the front? use your steering wheel puller if so-- if not then it is a slip fit and yours is stuck- so it needs to be unstuck

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

No, no holes there are 3 round pads the size of a bottle cap, do they unscrew? I tried to turn one but it wasn't turning and I didn't try to force it.

It's a slip fit, you might need two opposing screw drivers and "gently" wiggle it until it frees up. Remove the center bolt of course..Be careful not to distort the outer clutch driver though..The three pads do not screw off...

I bought a used compressor for the clutch coil and to practice removing and reinstalling the parts before messing with the one on the car. The clutch came off very easy so did the pulley and coil. Thanks again.
