Do I need to replace expansion valve

jdr37 on Sat May 31, 2008 3:58 PM User is offline

Year: 1993
Make: Mazda
Model: Protege
Engine Size: 1.8
Refrigerant Type: r12 to r134
Ambient Temp: 90
Country of Origin: United States

I am installing a used compressor and new drier and converting to R134a. Mileage is 160,000. How important is it that I replace the expansion valve? Where is the best place to find one at a reasonable price?
Thanks, jdr37

It depends on what type of system failure you had, never hurts to change them though. As far as prices, you won't beat this site for quality and price. It's the sponbsors store..

Chick,
Thanks,
The compressor had severe leak; all other components indicated no leaks whatsoever and system operated correctly so long as it had gas. Is new expansion valve of importance?
Thanks,

If it was working properly beforte, it will probably work now, but I can't say "Not to change it"..You have to decide that..Hope this helps..
