Just received my new compressor from the folks at ackits and now I am getting a little nervous. On my old 'pressor, the area where the hose block attaches is flat; thin sealing washers just slipped over the hose pilots and everything bolted to the back of the compressor. On this new unit, the seals fit into the compressor itself. This is where I am confused; long and short aluminum pilots were included as well as colored seals....I am not sure which to use. Yes I know that there are directions but why is it that the old compressor didnt have recessed seal bosses? Why was the area flat on the older unit? Did I get the wrong unit? I want to do this job one time and do it right so that is why I am asking now. I will probably tear into the job tomorrow as the old unit is still on the car. Is there an easy way to determine what seals to use? Thanks!
It's the new modern design. You use which ever sealing washers are needed so the manifold sits flat across the back of the compressor. the eyes press on the ports of the hose manifold to help keep everything aligned.
Thanks for the reply tim. OK that makes sense then. Do tell me though, is this a R4 (Harrison) compressor? The label looks as if it was peeled off. I don't know why that is. I ordered a NEW unit; this isnt possibly a rebuilt or remanufactured unit is it?
What's the part number? Can you post an image of the item?
here is what I found on the compressor. There is a serial # tag on the back. S/N: 040129B64756
order # on my invoice is 33-2617NA ( says NEW compressor/clutch)---I didn't want a rebuilt unit.
There is a casting # on the compressor clutch housing # 208414
How do I post pics?
