Re-use Fitting?

JR911 on Sun May 18, 2008 5:39 PM User is offline

Year: 1986
Make: Porsche
Model: 911
Engine Size: 3.2
Refrigerant Type: will be 134a
Country of Origin: United States

Hello,
I'm up-dating (to 134a) my whole a/c system with new components, adding a parallel cond. and new hoses/fittings from our host. There is one fitting that may be a Porsche part only, I'm not sure. Can this fitting be re-used if I cut off the ferrule? See pics below.
Thanks in advance!
J.R.

You have a couple of choices.

A) You can cut the ferrule away, and rework it for barrier hose.

B) Use an off-the-shelf 180 degree fitting, and add a cushioned clamp for the hose assembly instead of the welded on clip.

Either one works, and obviously Tim can get you the fitting you need...
