compressor won't come on

Jeff Parker on Sat May 17, 2008 2:00 PM User is offline

Year: 1998
Make: Dodge
Model: neon
Engine Size: 2.0
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Ambient Temp: 80
Pressure Low: 25
Pressure High: 145

I replaced the compressor about 2 years ago. It worked fine for awhile and then quit.

I'm trying to get it functional again. Pulled vacuum, hooked up gauges, tried adding refrigerant. The clutch will not engage unless I apply direct voltage to it. When I do that I get the above pressures, but the vent still is not blowing cold. If I remove the jumper from the compressor it will not engage the clutch even if I jump the low pressure switch.

thanks

You will need to do some diagnosing on this issue. Could be one of many things, compressor clutch relay, low pressure switch, high pressure switch, refrigerant, fuses or even a improper signal form the computer.

Might even consider getting the AllData Subscription for your vehicle.
