So I ordered a Parallel flow condenser...

Year: 79
Make: VW
Model: Rabbit
Engine Size: 1.8
Refrigerant Type: r134
Ambient Temp: 80

So I was getting 55 degree vent temps with 30/200 pressures on my retrofitted VW rabbit. The high side line was cut open and I needed to get that repaired. Peer Pressure from this forum got me to order a new parallel flow condenser and ditch the old tube and fin.

Now I have some questions. Ackits did not have a 12X26.5 like they have on their site so I ordered a 12X25 from acsource(Chinese part unfortunately). It came yesterday and the first thing I noticed is how thin it seems compared to the old T/F condenser. It's the same height and length though.

Now then...since it's a parallel flow and the passages are much smaller...will my system need less oil in it? Should I still be looking for the same pressures.

I still can't believe that this will work better since it looks so scrawny but we shall see this weekend once I install it.

Thanks,

Jason

So much is coming in from China these days it's not really an issue anymore. As with most things there are good and bad China items. With a PF condenser like we sell. When the manufacture decides to produced them again! You can charge to the OEM R12 specifications. Good chance you can do the same with the unit you purchased.
