OK
took out the accumulator and absolutely no oil came out of it; i was under the impression that there is supposed to be residual oil in the bottom. Is this a bad sign? Prior to tearing down the AC, the AC made a blood curdling, loud whine when the AC button was pressed. Is the lack of oil in the accumulator and the loud whine more than just a coincidence? Tonight I picked up a new accumulator and 8oz of PAG 150 oil. How much oil should I dump in the new accumulator and does it matter which port I put it in? Thanks again

It's better to put follow up questions about the same repair job in the same thread. I wouldn't replace any parts until after putting a little pressure in the system as it is and finding the leak. Are you sure your compressor is not seized? The front plate should be able to turn with the engine off.
