R134a with additives

LH123 on Thu April 24, 2008 12:28 AM User is offline

I couldn't help noticing at the big box how many flavorsR134a comes in...High mileage, system cleaner, speedy cool...
What is your take on this stuff? One of them says it cleans the internal system. I felt guilty buying the vanilla stuff.

IMO it is all snake oil.

I only use vanilla.

When you buy 30 lb cylinders like the pros use (in their own cars too), the only type is vanilla except a very rare few contain UV dye.

How could a "cleaner" additive work in a closed system? Where is the dirt going to go? If there is any dirt in there (and there really isn't) I'd rather it stay put.

does brand matter? like if you buy advance or napa vs dupont suva?
