Caps off on new accumulator - still usable?

terryk on Sun March 30, 2008 12:43 PM User is offline

Year: 86
Make: Pontiac
Model: Fiero
Engine Size: 2.8L
Refrigerant Type: R-134
Country of Origin: United States

I just bought a rebuilt compressor and accumulator from AC Kits and the caps for the ports on the accumulator were off. Is it still usable? I was thinking it would stuck moisture from the air.

Came off in shipping or not on at all? Very odd a accumulator/drier would leave our place without caps on it! If they just came off during shipping you will be fine.

Well, I don't know where they came off! They were in place but one was just laying against the port and the other wasn't tight; maybe on one thread.

Be sure to pull a good vacuum before charging and you will be fine.
