Big block chevy A/C brackets question

Smitty1962 on Mon November 05, 2007 8:58 AM User is offline

Year: 1984
Make: Chevy
Model: K10
Engine Size: 402ci

I just finished replacing the 305 in my son's '84 Chevy pickup with a 1972 402ci big block. I've gotten my alternator and power steering brackets taken care of, but so far can't figure out the A/C brackets. I've found brackets on ebay for big blocks, but they're all for the long compressor and we've got the short one.

Any help as to where I could locate brackets or direction to a picture of what they even look like (I have a buddy with lots of old brackets, but honestly don't know what I'm looking for) would be greatly appreciated! Not really looking for any fancy milled aluminum brackets or a serpentine system, just a basic bracket setup that will work with the short compressor on this engine.

Thanks!!

The R4 compressor was used on big blocks in pickups and Suburbans (probably vans) to some extent. A 1995 3/4 ton Suburban with dual air is one I know of in particular (could they have thought of anything worse to do an R4?). Whether the brackets are completely compatible with and older block is unknown.
