Autumn is here?

Well, from the looks of the forum here lately, it looks like its about time for a break till next season, SO, what are we all doing this time of year and for the winter just around the corner.

Of course we will be monitoring this great website for the lucky few who will be in need of our assistance but I for one will be also stepping up my assistance on several other Auto Repair forums, mainly Honda types as they seem to be the most diversified, covering all Hondas and not just one or two specific models such as Toyota Supra or Nissan 300Z specialty sites.

I also am learning online the MS .Net Framework, Visual Basic computer language and several subjects dealing with VB, it is difficult in my book, I tried it 5 years ago and failed but it is easier to understand now since they built in Intellisence, that guides you along, its a real help. I probably am taking on too many of the different areas when I should just try a couple like WinForms and SQL but I am looking at a good half a dozen areas and must be overloading myself, but with AC season near an end, what am I going to do with myself.

I don't touch the Classical Guitar anymore or travel, boating, camping or nothing fun like that, I find my self in front of the PC studying and learning and helping quite a bit these days, it is fun and I guess I could say this is what I do now, I am not sorry for it, just trying to improve my self worth I think, I am not totally ready to stop working just yet although I think I could, then what, watch DVD's all day and night, no regular TV in our house.

Enough about my near future, how about the rest of you guys, would any one be slightly interested in taking pictures of automotive AC system components on all types of Hondas for a project I am working on to help the uneducated, who don't own their own factory repair manual or any manual, not to lessen the need for great forums like this one, by no means, but to make it better by posting an open source data base with pics, diagnostic info, test points, wire colors and all that good stuff. Sometimes words here are just not enough.

Thanks for a great season, its not quite over, yet, I am going to move on to the next project and invite you and your camera along for the ride. Ya'lls turn now.

Business wise. Update the website, build new systems, improve anything we can.

Personal side. Get my heath in order, diabetes sucks!

I had 3 towers built, $8500 that will handle 12 LCD monitors, no monitors yet, plus a home made rack to hold the monitors, my design, not yet built. I am currently using a 37" HD LCD about 3' in front of my view, perfect size, I dont need to turn my head left to right to view it, not too big and I dont need to wear my glasses to read it.

All the monitors, thats how much online work I do and software developement and automotive diagnostic open source design work, just starting, thinking of taking up CAD??????? Currently using MS Visio. Forums out the ying yang and online education, Automotive and Visual Basic .Net Framework.

Good luck to you brother!!!

Just out of curiosity, what *does* an A/C shop do during the non-summer months? Is it not as slow as one would expect? Do you take on general automotive repair? Do you have to save up all your income during summer to meter it out through the off-season?

Shh....I'm sleeping...,.

In the warmer climates I'm sure it gears down a bit, but always work to do, in the climates like where I am, there are no AC only shops. However, since "most" cars today have one belt, even I am busy during the cold months...
Just not as busy as summer..But then I am more or less retired anyway, so it's hard to get me out from under the warm blankets during the winter, especially if there is a nice warm ..... well you know, under the blankets with me...but I enjoy the rest...May move out to AZ with my "penguins" and give Tim a hard time..Been thinking about it...

Be warned it gets hot here, with or without "warm sheets"! But the rest of the year is pretty darn nice.

Was at the airport last Tuesday for a flight test, wondered why the city built a pond west of the airport and a company another pond just east of the airport. Hundreds of thousands of geese were landing and taking off. Warned the FAA pilot to watch out. Course they are never on time, had to wait a couple of hours in the cold and wondered why autumn is here, autumn is gone, and winter is here, froze my butt off in 27*F weather. Ever wonder why the geese seem to squabble a lot? Saw a huge flock take off headed north, heard a lot of squabbling, leader finally turned south. Guess the leader is a male and the followers are all females, sound typical? Bears and insects hibernate, birds head south, only man and deer are dumb enough to hang around, but the deer are soon to be slaughtered by man.

Listened to yet another program on global warming, wish these two experts were standing next to me at the airport, one guy was saying we got to do something to cut CO2 emissions, the other guy, apparently much more honest says, we just don't know. Neither brought up that methane levels are seven times above normal.

Vehicles never give us a winter break, takes twice as long to work on them as you have to chip the ice off first before even finding the bolt. This forum is starting it's eighth year, never was dull during the winter months. While the northern hemisphere gets cold, the souther hemisphere gets hot and this is a world wide web site. Think Chick got it backwards, you don't crawl into bed with something warm under the covers, if you do, you will get thrown out. You have to be warm under the covers and have something crawl in that is cold.

Wife wants to take a week off for Thanksgiving, I got stuck with jury duty, while it is a privilege as a citizen to serve your country, so they say, if i don't show up, will be tossed in jail. Have to call a number every night to learn if I have to show up the next morning, ha, whoever he is, he's guilty. 30 cents a mile and 30 bucks a day, wonder if they take out taxes. Christmas always flies by, then tax time, another privilege, but it's a great country.

Jury duty, Nick?

1) Do you feel the defendant is guilty? Ans..He got arrested, didn't he?

2) Is there any reason you feel you should get excused from jury duty? Ans... Hell no. I am happy to do my civic duty. Now let's get that guilty criminal tried and sentenced quickly.

Guaranteed you'll be excused. Worked for me two times. Actually, when they realized I worked for the Sheriff's Office, they excused me the last time. About 15 years ago, I was summoned. I filled out the written questionaire as above and never heard anything.

Unfortunately, when everyone with an IQ greater than a pancake avoids jury duty, we end up with juries that say OJ was not guilty!!

I will do my civic duty to the best of my ability, just get sick of me getting threatened constantly by the government, $250,000 and five years in prison for any errors on every immigration form, failure to pay property taxes will result in a fine, 1% interest per month, then auctioning off of your home, Late or inaccurate for income or sales tax, threats, when drafted, either show up or end up in jail. The letter from the clerk of court was another threat, show up at 8:20 AM or end up in jail, what if we have a major snow storm or my car breaks down? A forty mile trip one way, and their stupid office doesn't even take phone calls until after 9:00 AM, tried it, got a message, we are closed, call later, then it hung up.

Since immigration is 220 miles away, I allow three extra hours, have to report in no sooner than 15 minutes than your appointed time, but not later, if later, they will cancel your appointment and you have to make the trip again, maybe 6-9 months later. But after you report, have to sit in an overcrowded waiting room for up to five hours, but you have to report in on time, no excuses.

Why can't our government be a little nicer? Five years in the military was a constant and daily threat, is this country worth dying for?
