Hi all - Can anyone provide some guidance on how to get the magnetic clutch coil off an R4 compressor? I have the clutch plate and pulley off and both snap-rings are removed, but I can't tell what holds the clutch coil on. Thanks, Randy
It's pressed on, you need to "pry" it around the edges until it pops off..Hope this helps..

That helps; thanks. I wonder if you could use a three-legged puller and pull against the shaft?
I use a crow bar myself..Unless you need to save it, then you have to be careful not to bend it out of round...

Two big screwdrivers work for me-- Then tap in on with an old useless coil-- works every time..........

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
