monky322 on Mon October 22, 2007 6:00 PM User is offline

Year: 1990
Make: toyota
Model: celica
Engine Size: 2.2
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Ambient Temp: 86
Pressure Low: 35
Pressure High: 189
Country of Origin: United States

Hey guys!! after suffering with my a/c installations. my car is done but i would like your opinions on this readings.

idle: low 35 high 189
1500 rpm: low 19 high 220
2500 rpm: low 15 high 210.

Vent temperature at 50 mph 49 degrees.

Car didn't have a/c, we got the parts from a junk yard. installed new compressor, expansion valve, condersor. system was r12. now r134a

I would imagine that is on high blower speed? If so, the vent temps will drop on lower blower speeds while cruising the highway. Are you happy with it? They are small systems and don't take to retrofitting well, but when tweaked they are just fine..Pressures look good, make sure no air is going around the condenser, but being pulled thru it, make air dams if necessary.. the better the air flow thru the condenser, the better pressures and cooling will be...Good job...

And make sure no heat from the heater core is blending in with the evap air..Feel the suction line, should be cold right back to the compressor....

Like Chick said, double check the blend door, and try the vent blower at a lower speed. As I found out (from all these guys here), too much oil can also cause this along with an incorrect charge. Did you charge it yourself? If so, did you pull the vacuum and leave the gauges connected and then you charged it? Did you account for the amount of R-134a in the hoses and manifold (I know mine held about 3 oz or something like that)? What is the outside temp? Sounds like a big job you did, hope it works out for you. Also, don't waste your time with all that booster stuff, they don't work...I know. Still trying to track down some straight qwikboost however, Ackits actually tested this stuff and it showed some promising numbers (however it isn't going to drop your vent temps down to 30° F, read somewhere it is included in some Artic freeze stuff now, but it also has a bunch of sealers and crap in there too. There results are posted in the FAQ forum.

yes, all the readings were at high speed fan. Well i read retroffiting cause the system to work less efficiently. Some people say 5 to 7 degrees more in comparison with r134a systems so i guess that is the best i can achieve(49 degrees) i am going to try to make the air go straight to the condenser and see what happens even couple degress less would do it for me. Thanks for your replies.

Well my wife is pretty happy with the little car so i guess, i am happy.

In case anybody cares, I wrote an email to the manufacture of Qwikboost asking what happened to it, and this is what they wrote back with:

Ben,

I am pleased you know Mainstream manufactures QwikBoost! We never stopped making QwikBoost. In fact, it’s so successful that it’s now being marketed by Interdynamics; who sells the product through just about every retail auto supply house in America.

Look for Interdynamic’s “Arctic Freeze” or similar products. They all use QwikBoost technology.

Thank you,

So bottom line is (in my opinion) they took a product that showed potential and threw it in with a bunch of other junk that now contains all that stop leak crap and made it...well Sh**. So like every other booster or enhancer stay away from this and if you still have doubts, search this forum for stop leak products and than make up your own mind!

Nothing sneaky about emails. Email me your shipping address and I'll figure a freight cost. Make a $ 10.00 dollar (per can) donation to the forum plus the freight cost. See link upper left (Support the Auto A/C Forum).
