Installing AC into 02 F-150 W/O AC ?

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a newer truck. Of the few considered, one has no AC from the factory. It's an 02 F-150 w/64k on it, and could probably be had for around $6500 or less.
I have had my 83 for 10 years and done lots of work on it, 6 cyl to v8, replaced all suspension components, new interior w/custom dash(completely replaced the entire dash assembly)please don't ask why.
I realize the 02 is a whole different animal, esp the dash. Is the evap/housing modular(like my Rx-7), or are there 2 completely different systems for the AC and non AC models?
Am I just wasting my time thinking about it?

Systems are not even close to the same design. A new aftermarket system from us depending on the engine should be around $ 800.00 plus freight.

When considering your next auto A/C purchase, please consider the site that supports you:

I'd shop around for a truck with AC. Tearing into that dash is not for the weak at heart. IMO the best plan if you buy the truck would be a complete setup from a wreck.

But I still encourage you to pass on this truck if you want AC.

Thanks Tim, I thought they might be, I think the older fords like my 83 are different also. Just hoped it could have been like the old mazda, it has either the evap/housing or a piece of duct.

Chris, ya, the junkyard was my plan.
Thanks for the input/advise.

It was a nice looking truck though
