hi to all i need help i have a car without a/c. i decided to install myself and got a almost complete system bnew form the internet including compressor, evaporator receiver, condenser etc..

i put everything that is needed and put oil and freon. no leaks

now for the moment of truth........ i start the engine turn the ac switch and blower

and its working after 5 seconds it stop light from switch is on but u know that compressor clutch is not engaging??
press it again and it works for 5 secs and dies....

as far as i know i put the wiring harness right . everything is brand new except the ac amplifier ,,,could this be the problem????

i try to test the harness plug of the ac amplifier seems everything is good.

any suggestions????

How did you fill it? Did you pull a vacuum and charge the system weight into the vacuum? If not, thats the problem.. Since you didn't list the pressures I have to "guess" that you didn't vacuum or use guages.?? here's a link to vac/charge and it will explain what is needed, but in your case, you must fill the system weight into the vacuum since it'as not a retrofit.. Also make sure the fan comes on with the Ac...The amplifier will shut it down if the pressures are to high..
Vac/charge procedures Hope this helps..

Also, without the full charge in the system, the compressor will cycle and the amplifier will sense a low charge, or other things that shut it down, like frequent cycling, slipping belt, etc..It can't tell what it is, it just shuts it down... , thats another reason you need to pull a vacuum, it will pull enough in to finish filling it properly..

hi i went to a shop that do the a/c retrofit to r134a, recover, evacuate, and recharge system i assume they do what they supposed to do. so if all things are good what should be the problem?????\

My first guess would be excessive pressure because the condenser fan isn't working, or it's overcharged.

If the amplifier is set up to check the rpm of the compressor obviously the compressor rpm sensor has to be working and also the pulleys on the engine and the compressor have to be the same ratio that the amplifier is expecting.

when you turn on the ac let say first time in the day will the conderser fan switches on right away?? is that what your telling me. overcharge or excessive pressure that i dont know i assume again that the shop did well and did not overcharge. i know they should have a pressure gauge that why i went to a shop to do my oil and freon.

still puzzles me . check my wiring again and seems right?? something turns it off . i will go to a junkshop and find a a/c amplifier and see what happens

i did not wire my compressor sensor because i don't have power steering . only the clutch compressor.

ok guys here is a wiring diagram

1991 tercel where i got my cooling system from and cooling unit wiring harness( a/c amp., magnetic clutch, pressure switch, thermistor)

1994 tercel car were i put the 1991 system

i connect the wires from the same color except for light green(94) to black yellow(91)

are there any other changes i need to do .

TAKE NOTE I DID NOT CONNECT 9 AND 13 PIN FROM THE AC AMPLIFIER BECAUSE IT SAYS WITHOUT POWER STEERING

ptmar on Sat September 01, 2007 12:27 PM User is offline

AND 11 PIN ( *1) SAYS WITHPOWER STEERING , I DONT HAVE ONE

ptmar on Sat September 01, 2007 2:45 PM User is offline

GOT IT DISREGARD THE WITH OUT POWER STEERING ONLY DIAGRAM AND WIRED IT WITH POWER STEERING EVEN I DONT HAVE ONE WIRED THE COMPRESSOR SENSOR AND IT WORKS.JUST A WIRING PROBLEM. I JUST FOLLOWED THE WIRING FOR A NON POWER STEERING BUT I GUESS JUST WIRED IT WITH POWER STEERING EVEN IF U DONT HAVE ONE.
