access port problems w/Jeeps

Refrigerant Type: R134A

I have several coworkers driving Jeeps with R134A leaking access ports, hi & lo.
How do I tell whether I can remove the schrader valve only, or if I have to remove the port assembly?
Is this leaking unusual, or common?
Thanks for the help,
Kaps

If it has the "ball" type shrader, you can usually change the port, the other type (like a tire valve) you can change the shrader. Below os a pic of the Ball type. Always be carefull whick "Hex" you turn, as sometimes one is the actual line..
Regular "ball" type service port

Service port removed

The replacable Ball type service port

Be carefull not to twist this Hex, as you will ruin the line...Hope this helps..
