Need to add oil

Year: 1994
Make: Chevrolet
Model: S-10
Engine Size: 4.3l
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Country of Origin: United States

I just replaced the a/c compressor, accumulator and flow valve/filter and recharged system. It's working fine but I was told to add 4oz of oil when installing the compressor. Now I'm reading that the compressor on this car uses 8oz. How do I add oil to an already charged system? Also, is there a way to check the amount of oil in an already charged system?

System total is 8 ounces. That means if you flushed the system and no oil was left behind, you need 8 ounces..Otherwise you add back what you removed from the componants you changed.. You may be an ounce or maybe two low, but without flushing it's jhust a guess.. If you feel you need to add more oil, you can buy those pre-charged oil cans to add to the system..They come in two ounce oil/two ounce refrigerant to push it in..Hope this helps.
