Which oil?

mhfd112 on Thu August 09, 2007 7:37 AM User is offline

Year: 2003
Make: Chevy
Model: 1500hd
Engine Size: 6.0

What viscosity oil should I use in this truck? I was planning on using dec pag 150. I was doing a little reading on this truck while the parts are on they way. Read something about 525 viscosity oil for lubricating o-rings. Is that the kind of oil that is in the system too?

No the 525 is only to lube o rings and such, the PAG 150 goes in the system.

The 2003 truck may have the Denso 10S17P compressor. If this is correct the correct lubricant spec'd by GM is PAG 46. Be very careful if servicing this vehicle, some of this compressor have a pressure switch located in the rear head. If it becomes damaged, the entire compressor must be replaced....GM does not service the switch.
Good luck!!!!

I think it is a 10S20F.

10S20F is the bigger model for that vehicle. Both will work according to my data.

I would not put too much worry in it if you have already added the PAG 150.

Did you have another question? Oil question has been answered and Nylog is always best for o-rings.
